On 11 July 2012 Alexander Bastrykin received citizens in the building of Investigative Committee in Moscow. 50 citizens of Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Bashkortostan Republic, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Bryansk, Vladimir, Irkutsk, Kirov, Hizhny Novgorod, Novgorod and samara Regions were received at the reception held from 11:00 a.m. 11 July to 01:00 a.m. 12 July. The Chairman of Investigative Committee in person received 45 citizens. In addition, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee received 5 citizens.

The most of complaints received by the Chairman concerned procedural decisions on criminal cases investigated by investigating bodies of the Committee. Some complaints related to unlawful decisions by judges and officials of other law enforcement bodies.

At the end of the reception Mr Bastrykin gave specified instructions to leaders of a number of territorial investigating bodies of Investigative Committee. The progress of reviewing all received complaints is under personal control of the Chairman.
