On 15 July 2012, at about 6:05 p.m. Deputy Head of Kabardino-Balkar Republic Investigations Directorate Colonel of Justice Alim Babayev, was driving his personal car with his small child inside into a courtyard of a block of flats in Nalchik where he lives. At this moment an unknown person fired a single shot from firearms hitting the car roof. Nobody was hurt. Kabardino-Balkar Republic investigating bodies are carrying out a pre-investigation check into the fact.

At present, an investigation and search task force is working at the scene to establish all circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following results of the check.
