In Moscow Region head of one of towns suspected of taking 6 million rubles bribe

Moscow Region investigating bodies of Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against Head of Zagoryansky town of Shchelkovsky district of Moscow Region Nikolai Ozerov suspected of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of RF Criminal Code (bribe-taking on especially large scale) and against a resident of Shchelkovo suspected of a crime under part 4 of article 291-1 of RF Criminal Code (mediation in bribe-taking on especially large scale).

According to investigations, Ozerov through his acquaintance demanded from director of country cottage noncommercial partnership Losiny-Ostrov to give him a bribe of 6 million rubles for reconciliation and issuance of permissions on operations related to gas and power supply. In April-June 2012 the Head of town three times received parts of the stipulated sum of from 1 to 1.5 million rubles through a mediator. Then chairman of the noncommercial partnership informed Moscow Region Main Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs about the situation and subsequent meetings of the suspects took place under control of its officials. On 17 July 2012, the mediator was detained when he was receiving 2 million rubles, he agreed to participate in investigation operations and the same day gave the money to a bribe-taker in an office of administration head. Ozerov, who in the period between April and July this year received a total of 6 million bribes, was caught red-handed.

In the near future investigators will initiate Ozerov’s arrest. Investigation is to be continued to establish all circumstances of the crime.
