In Sverdlovsk Region criminal case opened against traffic police inspector missed onboard of An-2 plane suspected of violation of traffic rules entailing grave injuries


Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against a 24-year-old traffic police inspector of Serovsky department Maksim Mayevsky suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 264 of RF Criminal Code (violation of the rules for traffic safety involving grave injuries to human health).

According to investigators, on 21 May 2012 at about 5 a.m. Mayevsky was driving his father’s car Lada Priora near Kiselyovskoye reservoir of Serov tosn district with two passengers on the back seat (22-year old women acquainted with him). He lost control of the car and wheeled off to the ditch, after what the car overturned. As a result of this car accident the inspector was not hurt, but one of the passengers sustained a grave injury to her health in the form of compression fracture of spine.

Investigators have information that the suspected inspector was one of the passengers aboard the plane An-2 which got missed on 11 June this year. The searches for the plane and its passengers are ongoing.

A number of investigation operations are under way to establish all circumstances of the incident and to consolidate evidence. Investigators are also going to check the information that district directorate of traffic police was possibly concealing the fact that the inspector had been driving the car at the moment of accident. Investigation is to be continued.
