Criminal case opened against deputy head of Yekaterinburg Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs

Urals Federal District Investigation Directorate of Russia’s Investigative Committee has inititated a criminal case against Deputy Head of Yekaterinburg Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs Colonel of internal service Sergey Litvinenko. He is suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 285 of RF Criminal Code (abuse of official powers).

According to investigators, Litvinenko in the period between August 2011 and April 2012 acting out of personal interest fictitiously employed at one of the divisions of Yekaterinburg Department of Ministry of Internal Affairs Colonel of internal service Sergey Mozgin. In fact the officer was not going to fulfill the duties entrusted to him. And Litvinenko, the investigators believe, “patronized” his absence at working place. As a result Mozgin was unlawfully paid money allowance for 8 months of over 600 thousand rubles.

The crime was revealed during investigation of another criminal case against Vice-Mayor of Yekaterinburg Viktor Kanteev.
