In Irkutsk Region Deputy Chief of Tulunsky PD suspected of attempted murder of local tax police chief


Irkutsk Region investigative bodies of Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against Deputy Chief of Tulunsky police department Lieutenant Colonel of police Alexander Sitnikov. He is suspected of a crime under articles 33, 30, part 3 of article 105 of RF Criminal Code (organization of attempted murder).

According to investigators, Sitnikov is involved in a crime committed in 2004 in the town of Tulun, Irkutsk Region, against chief of the local tax police whose car was shot with an automatic weapon. The official was wounded, but managed to escape the killer. A local resident Sergey Fasey was held on charges of this crime. In 2005 the court found him guilty of a crime under part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 105 of RF Criminal Code (attempted murder). At present Fase is doing his time in one of correctional facilities of Russia.

Thanks to efficient joint search and investigation operations of agents of SK regional departments and FSB of Russia it was possible to find new circumstances of the case. There are grounds to suggest Sitnikov as the contractor of the murder.

At present the suspect is detained. Search and investigation operations are under way to find all circumstances of the crime. The question of putting Sitnikov in the custody is being negotiated. Investigation is to be continued.
