On the investigation of the criminal case over the mass riots in the Bolotnaya Ploshchad in Moscow on May 6

Main Investigations Directorate of Russia’s Investigative Committee continues the investigation of the criminal case over the organization, participation, calling for mass riots and violence against the public officers during the events of May 6 at the Bolotnaya Ploshchad in Moscow.

25 and July 26, 2012, respectively, during the search operations the active participants of the mass riots Nikolai Kavkazsky and Alexei Polihovich were arrested. Later, at the request of the investigators they were taken into custody.

A.Polihovich and N.Kavkazsky were charged with a crime under Part 2 of the article 212 of RF Criminal Code (participation in mass riots, accompanied by damage to and destruction of property and the use of violence against the authorities). The investigators established that N.Kavkazsky hit the police officers with his hands and legs and A.Polihovich prevented the arrest of other participants in the riots, with the use physical force against the authorities, clutched at their uniforms.

Neither A.Polihovich nor N.Kavkazsky expressed their attitude to the charges and, referring to Art. 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation refused to testify.

The apartments of the accused parties were searched, the items, confirming their involvement in the riots were seized. At the moment, the examinations were assigned to study all the seized items, other investigative actions are carried out to consolidate the evidence. Active investigation is going on to arrest other participants in a crime.
