Resident of Khimki of the Moscow Region will face trial on charges of murdering two people in the United States of America

Investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Moscow Region have completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 43-year-old resident of Khimki of the Moscow Region, Yuri Soloviev, who is accused of committing crimes under paragraphs “a”, “h” of Part 2 of Art.105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder of two persons, combined with the robbery), paragraphs “b”, “c” of Part 3 of Art.162 of the RF Criminal Code (robbery), Part 2 of Art.159 of the RF Criminal Code (fraud), paragraph "c" of Part 2 of Art.158 of the RF Criminal Code (theft).

According to investigators, in the spring of 2001 Soloviev met with two entrepreneurs, a Russian citizen and a citizen of Uzbekistan, who were running a common business in the U.S.A. providing staff for local enterprises. Solovyov was living with them in a rented apartment in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States, and in June 2002 he decided to commit their murder motivated by greed. Having established the staff pay scheme, he learned the date when the victims get cash for the calculation of wages to more than 90 employees. For murder, he bought the gun of "Jennings" brand, which he used in June 2002 to shot entrepreneurs and steal cash totaling no less than 19 thousand U.S. dollars, as well as the victims' credit cards. After that, in order to conceal traces of the crime, he transferred dead bodies in the bathroom, where he dismembered them with a saw, packed them in plastic bags and threw them in a ravine near the Little Pigeon River in Pigeon Forge. In June 2003 a fragment of the skull of one of the victims was found in the river. Later, Soloviev, posing as the victim, paid for the jewelry by credit card.

In addition, in 2004, Soloviev, being a gas station employee in Rahvey New Jersey of the Union County, USA, stole cash and cigarettes worth 8 thousand 760 U.S. dollars, and then left the territory of the United States.

In June 2004, Solovyov was put in the wanted list; his location was established in the territory of the Russian Federation in 2009. In the framework of international legal cooperation, all materials on this fact were transferred from the U.S. Department of Justice to investigative agencies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to prosecute Solovyov.

The investigators collected sufficient evidence and carried out a large volume of investigative actions, including those carried out in the U.S., for which reason the indictment has been affirmed, and soon it will be sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
