Legal evaluation within pre-investigation check will be given to actions of officials responsible for emergency prevention and safety of people during disaster in Krasnodar Territory

Krasnodar Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue checks into deaths of people on 22 August 2012 in Tuapsinsky district.

As it was earlier reported, at night of 22 August 2012 there were heavy rains in the territory of Tuapsinsky district, which led to river floods and 4 people died.

During the first 24 hours after the flood investigators carried out 5 examinations of incident sites, talked to the locals about the disaster, requests to submit information about weather and other relevant data were sent to various state bodies.

Meanwhile, Krasnodar Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee on 22 August 2012 launched a pre-investigation check into negligence showed by officials of Tuapsinsky district who are obliged to take measures to clean the riverbeds, to warn about emergency situations and other anti-flood measures. In addition, it became known that the same incident took place in Tuapsinsky district in October 2010 which led to property damage of both local people and municipal property. At the same time funds were allocated from the budget to eliminate the aftermath and repay the damage to the people, and to take other measures to prevent such situations in future. At present investigators requested all the files about distribution of the mentioned funds, about measures taken by the officials after the river floods and checks are being taken to find the exact officials responsible for anti-flood measures. Procedural decision will be made after the checks.
