Criminal proceedings started into attempted murder of Deputy Head of Investigating Department of Moscow Region Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee

Svetlana Kochukova, Deputy Head of Investigating Department of Moscow Region Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee was found unconscious with many injuries on 28 August at about 5 a.m. on Tchaikovsky Street of the town of Stupino, Moscow Region. Moscow Region Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case over crimes under part 3 of article 30, paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105 (attempted murder attended by robbery) and part 1 of article 162 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (robbery).

According to investigators, the woman was attacked on 28 August 2012 at about 2 a.m., when the victim left the building of the Investigations Department and walked home. Now the woman is in resuscitation department.

At present necessary investigation operations are under way: the scene is being examined, witnesses are being questioned, and search and investigation operations are ongoing to find the persons involved in the crime, as well as witnesses. All versions of the crime are reviewed, but investigators consider as the main one related to the professional activity of the victim. Experienced criminologists of the SK central office have been sent to assist in the investigation.
