Tatarstan Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated criminal proceedings into the incident over a crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons).

During skillfully planned search and investigation operations on 30 August a 38-year-old acquaintance of one of the women was held on suspicions of the murder. It is Igor Danilevsky, a professor in one of universities of Kazan. A knife – possible murder weapon – was found in his flat. The woman reproached him for constant lying, then the man took a knife and stabbed her several times. On hearing the sounds of the fight the victim’s mother came out of the other room and the man stabbed her several times, too. The women died of the wounds. Then Danilevsky searched the flat for receipt for money received from the victim and stole about 100 thousand rubles and 2 cellphones. Before leaving he arranged the bodies in a special way and scrawled FREE PUSSY RIOT on the wall with the women’s blood in order to turn the suspicion aside and make it look like a ritual murder.
