Suspect of complicity in attacks in Rostov Region, including attack in which president of Myasnikovsky district court was killed was detained in Rostov-on-Don

On 20 July 2012 around 3:10 a.m. four unknown masked men came through a window into a private house in the village of Chaltyr in Rostov Region and attacked president of Myasnikovsky district court who lived there. The perpetrators shot him two times and fled the scene stealing Nissan Teana parked near the house. The court president died of the wounds in a hospital some time later. Rostove Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings into the incident over signs of crimes under part 3 of article 30, paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105 (robbery attended attempted murder), paragraph “c” of part 4 of article 162 (robbery with the infliction of major damage to the victim's health), part 2 of article 222 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, storage or bearing of firearms and ammunition, committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy).

During investigation as there were facts pointing to the acts of the same persons the criminal case was incorporated in a single lawsuit with the one started earlier over a robbery of a family living in a private house in the city of Rostov-on-Don in June 2012.

Thanks to professional investigating operations and search measures a 32-year-old Dagestan native was detained on suspicions of complicity in these and other crimes.

At present the man is put under custody on the petition of the investigators. He was charged with crimes under part 5 of article 33, part 3 of article 162 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code (complicity in robberies).

Investigators believe that the suspect was involved by his acquaintance as a driver to take a criminal group of four to places of planned robberies.

In addition during the investigation information on the robbers, including the one who had shot the court president was found. According to this information other perpetrators are hiding on the territory of one of the republics on the North Caucasus

Currently necessary investigation operations are under way to collect evidence. Investigation is to be continued.
