In Trans-Baikal Territory Chief of Trans-Baikal Traffic Police Directorate is held on suspicion of taking briberies for “fine number plates”

Trans-Baikal Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against Chief of Trans-Baikal Traffic Police Directorate Sergey Ukhanov. He is suspected of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (bribery-taking on a large scale).

According to investigators, in June-July 2012, Sergey Ukhanov, being Chief of Trans-Baikal Traffic Police Directorate, for bribes assisted to car owners in getting number plates with certain combination of numbers and letters.

According to files of criminal case, within the stipulated period Ukhanov received as bribes money and other material valuables including a TV set and a cell phone, worth in all more than 270 thousand rubles.

Sergey Ukhanov is detained. Investigators carried out several searches, including in the flat and office of the accused. During the searches investigators seized money, documents and objects of bribes. Investigators are going to petition for Ukhanov to be put into custody.

The criminal proceedings were launched over the materials provided by Trans-Baikal Territory Directorate of Federal Security Service. 

At present investigating and search operations are under way to establish all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is to be continued.
