Investigative Committee Chairman held operational meeting in Saint-Petersburg

21 September 2012 – Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee held in Saint-Petersburg an operational meeting with heads of Saint-Petersburg Central Investigations Directorate, Leningrad Region Investigations Directorate, North Western Transport Investigations Directorate and North Western Federal District Investigations Directorate.

Heads of Investigations Directorates reported to Alexander Bastrykin on results of the performance in the current year. The meeting also discussed the progress and results of investigation of especially important and high-profile criminal cases, including the one over murder of rector of Saint-Petersburg State University of Service and Economics Alexander Viktorov; the missing 6-year-old Pavel Kostyunin; a series of sexual crimes against minors in Saint-Petersburg; a contract murder of 3 businessmen; a criminal group smuggling weapons. In addition, Chairman of the Investigative Committee heard the reports on investigation of a number of criminal cases over official and corruption crimes in North Western Federal District, namely on stealing of clients’ money from the accounts in North Western bank of OAO Sberbank Rossii (OJSC) and others. Many of the heard cases were either solved or had considerable progress in investigation.

Following the results of the meeting Mr Bastrykin gave a number of explicit orders to heads of Investigations Directorates on the most urgent areas of their activities.

In the conclusion of the meeting the SK Chairman awarded a number of employees of the said directorates for high results of the performance and perfect service.
