Suspect in the abduction of an 8-year-old girl arrested in Rostov-on-Don

September 27, 2012 at approximately 9 hours 30 minutes an 8-year-old Daria Popova, who did not return home after school on September 19, was found alive in Rostov-on-Don in the "Klassik" market. According to preliminary reports, the girl was kidnapped for ransom by a resident of the Rostov region. During the time he held the girl in the car "Hyundai Elantra" - in the back seat or in the trunk. In order to get money for the return of the girl to her family the man came to the workplace of his former cohabitee. Seeing a girl in the trunk of a car, the woman immediately called the police. The suspect in the kidnapping managed to escape. But at present he is arrested by police near the “Atlas” market. He appeared to be an entrepreneur Alexander Maksimov, 1955.

The suspect explained to the investigators that due to the loss in the casino he owed 500,000 rubles to a friend businessman. To get the money, he abducted a girl previously unfamiliar to him.

At present, a pre-trial restraining measure of detainment in custody is under consideration. Investigation operations to establish the circumstances of the incident, as well as to verify whether other crimes were committed against the minor are being conducted.
