An official of Federal Service for Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management charged with swindling to appear in court in Moscow

The Central Federal District investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have completed investigating a criminal case against Deputy Head of State Building and Supervision and Supervision over Self-regulating Organizations of State Building Supervision Directorate of Federal Service for Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management Alexander Gazhu. He is charged with crimes under part 3 of article 159 (swindling), part 3 of article 30 and part 3 of article 159 of the RF Criminal Code (attempted swindling).

According to investigators, in April 2012, Gazhu received from director of non-production enterprise of housing and public utilities Zhilizhchny Kompleks abribe of 500 thousand rubles for concealing the violations of legal requirements found during an inspection. On 16 June 2012 he received another 600 thousand rubles for making a non-planned inspection statement and assistance in getting a permit to build at especially dangerous and technically complex facilities of capital construction. However Gazhu had no authorities to carry out the said activities. The law enforcement agents detained Gazhu at the moment when he was receiving the 600 thousand rubles.

Investigators have collected enough evidence and the case the indictment approved by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation was forwarded to the court to be tried on the merits.
