Senior officials of the Investigative Committee take under control the check into deaths caused by floods in Dagestan

Six people died and 500 houses were flooded during torrential rains and mud flows in the town of Derbent and the village of Sabnava of Derbentsky district at night 10 October 2012. The Dagestan Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out a pre-investigative check into the incident.

During the check a legal treatment will be given to actions of officials responsible for timely warning the population and measures on prevention and elimination of emergency situations.

At present examination of the incident scene (flooded zone) is underway involving specialists, the damages are being determined. A procedural decision will be made after the check.

Senior officials of the Investigative Committee have taken the progress of the check under control.
