In Sverdlovsk Region criminal proceedings initiated over illegal distribution of pornographic materials published for children reported by media

The Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over signs of a crime under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 242 of the RF Criminal Code (illegal making or distribution of pornographic materials involving minors in distribution of pornographic materials committed by a group of persons under a preliminary conspiracy).

The criminal case was initiated in connection with the media publications reporting that in the period between September and October 2012, a group of unknown persons in Yekaterinburg, acting under a preliminary conspiracy distributed through several book stores a number of publications containing pornographic materials intended for minors. Investigators believe that this way the teenagers who had got the access to such books were involuntarily involved in the distribution of pornographic materials.

At present investigators are taking measures to establish all circumstances of the crime. They are going to assign and have forensic linguistic and other expert examinations done, and to find sources and circumstances under which the said literature was delivered for selling. In addition they are going to interview the sellers and suppliers of the said products.
