Aviation technical expert examination to be fixed over crash of passenger plane ATR-72 in Tyumen

Investigating bodies of the Urals Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case launched over signs of a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of air transport involving by negligence death of two or more people), into the crash of a passenger plane ATR-72 in the morning of 2 April 2012 near the runway of Roshchino airport in Tyumen.

Earlier it has been reported that the plane was flying from Tyumen to Surgut and was carrying 39 passengers and 4 crew members aboard. During the take off the plane deviated from the course by 150 degrees and making a forced landing with developing left list brushed the left engine against the ground and fell into pieces. 33 people were killed in the accident and 10 survivors suffered different injuries.

The investigators consider flying without means of protection against ground icing as the main version. At present the investigators have assigned an integrated aviation technical expert examination, which according to preliminary data will take no less than 2 months. After the investigators have got the report made by the Interstate Aviation Committee, conclusions of which have been announced today, the conclusion will be forwarded to the experts. Based on the results of the integrated expert examination it will be decided whether to start criminal investigation against responsible people. Investigation is ongoing.
