Criminal proceeding launched into death of 5-year-old girl in Kaluga Region

A body of a 5-year-old girl with signs of strangulation was found on 18 August 2013, about 5 PM at the playground near the house in Chekhov Street in Kaluga. Kaluga Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation into signs of a crime under part 1 of article 109 of the RF Criminal Code (reckless homicide).

According to preliminary information children were playing at the playground and sliding from the plastic slide. To climb the slide they used a rope. Investigations are now looking into the way the child got strangled. The yard of the house, where the playground is located is fenced and people can enter only using a magnetic key or the entrance door intercom.

At present investigators are inspecting the incident scene, questioning the girl’s parents, go around the house to find eyewitnesses and all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
