5 men charged with extremism put on trial in Bashkortostan

The Republic of Bashkortostan investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against 5 residents of the town of Sibaya and Baymaksky district, the Republic of Bashkortostan. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under part 1 of article 282.2 of the RF Criminal Code (organization of activity of a religious association, against which the court passed a decision banning the activity connected with extremism which has entered into force), part 2 of article 282.2 (membership in a religious association, against which the court passed a decision banning the activity connected with extremism which has entered into force).

According to investigators, in January 2012, a 35-year-old man, who had previous police records for the same crime, organized in the town of Sibaya an affiliate of the terrorist organization, found by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in 2003 terrorist and forbidden in the Russian Federation. The man by persuasion and propaganda involved in the activity of the organization 4 members aged between 22 and 31. Under his leadership the members studies literature, which is concluded in the federal list of extremism materials and reconciled between themselves the forms and ways of future activity of the organization.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence and accordingly the case with the approved indictment has been sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
