Criminal proceeding launched into collision of train and car in Moscow

Moscow Inter-Regional transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s investigative Committee has launched a criminal case over signs of a crime under part 1 of article 263 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of railway transport entailing through negligence grievous bodily harm to a person).

According to investigators, in the morning of 26 August 2013, a train travelling from Serpukhov to Nakhabino at the station Shcherbinka at the regulated crossing of 34th km collided with a Chevrolet Lacetti driven by a 27-year-old citizen of the Republic of Bashkortostan. According to the expert’s conclusion the driver received a polytrauma, which is grievous bodily harm. According to the technical conclusion and the internal investigation report the cause of the accident were violations made by staffers of OAO RZD (OJSC) to the requirements of regulatory documents regulating operation of railway crossings.

At present a number of necessary investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the accident. Investigation is ongoing.
