Investigation operations launched in Sverdlovsk Region against senior officials of non-commercial organization – a charity fund City without Drugs

The Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case initiated over signs of crimes under article 127 (illegal deprivation of liberty) and article 109 of the RF Criminal Code (infliction of death by negligence).

The criminal case in question concerns facts of illegal deprivation of freedom of several women in a rehabilitation center of non-commercial organization – a charity fund City without Drugs and death of one of the patients – 29-year-old Tatyana Kuznetsova. The accused is a 34-year-old man who is charged with illegal deprivation of liberty committed against 6 women during 2012. It should be noted that the charges of infliction of death by negligence to Tatyana Kuznetsova have not been brought against anyone yet.

On 2 November 2012, employees of Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in cooperation with employees of other law enforcement bodies are searching several places in Yekaterinburg. Those include the head office of non-commercial organization – a charity fund City without Drugs, men’s rehabilitation center and residence place of one of the heads of non-commercial organization – a charity fund City without Drugs. The necessity of the searches is caused by the fact that investigators have strong reason to assume that there can be objects and documents relevant for the case. In case the said objects or documents are found, they will be seized in due order and filed in the case.

Investigators put on a federal wanted list one of heads of non-commercial organization – a charity fund City without Drugs, Yevgeny Malenkin.

It should be noted that all investigating operations in the process of the inquiry are conducted in strict agreement with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, with necessary observing the rights and legal interests of participants of the criminal proceedings.
