A man suspected of wreck of Amurskaya dry cargo ship in the Sea of Okhotsk apprehended

Investigating bodies of the Far Eastern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case over wreck in the Sea of Okhotsk near Shantar Islands of dry cargo ship Amurskaya (part 3 of article 263 of the RF Criminal Code - Violation of the rules for traffic safety and operation of sea transport entailing by negligence the death of two or more persons).
On 5 November 2012, in the town of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Alexander Shiltsin, CEO of OJSC Nikolayevsky-on-Amur Sea Port which owned the cry ship cargo Amurskaya, was held on suspicions of committing the said crime.
A number of investigating operations are under way to collect evidence. In the near future the suspect will be brought to charges. The placing of the suspect into the custody as a pre-trial restraining measure is under discussion. Investigation is to be continued.
