The Rostov Garrison Military Investigations Department of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case over an incident with Su-24 plane, the proceedings were launched over signs of a crime under article 351 of the RF Criminal Code (violation of rules for flights and training for them).

It was preliminarily established that today at 0:38 Moscow time while approaching the landing after a training flight the plane Su-24 veered of the course. During the landing, by not yet known reason, the drag parachute of the plane came off. As a result the plane went outside the limits of a runway and caught a fire. Both of the crew members baled out.

The forces on duty put out the fire. The plane is partly destroyed.

The Military investigators are examining the incident scene, seizing the documents and interviewing the witnesses.

Investigation is to be continued.
