In Khabarovsk Territory criminal proceedings launched into mass enteric infection disease of children from orphanage

The Khabarovsk Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over mass enteric infection disease of children of state-funded facility Bikinsky Orphanage for Mentally Deficient Children. The proceedings were started over signs of a crime under part 1 of article 238 of the RF Criminal Code (rendering services which do not meet standards of safety).

According to investigators, in the period between 1 and 12 November 2012, 51 children in the orphanage applied for medical help complaining about acute enteric infection. The facility has taken anti-epidemic measures and is in quarantine.

At present investigating operations are underway to establish all circumstances of the crime. Investigation is to be continued.
