In republic of Ingushetia criminal proceedings launched over encroachment on life of Deputy Chief of Investigations Department for the town of Malgobek

On 14 November 2012, unknown people gunned from a grenade launcher, under barrel grenade launchers and submachine guns a house in Adygeyskaya street of the village Sagopshi, Malgobeksky district, where Deputy Chief of Investigations Department for the town of Malgobek of the Ingushetia Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee, Major of Justice Aslan Tsechoyev and his family live. Tsechoyev sustained missile wounds and was delivered to Malgobeksky central district hospital. According to preliminary invormation nobody of his family was hurt, but the house was badly damaged.

Ingushetia investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over signs of crimes under article 295 (encroachment on a life of a person conducting a preliminary investigation), part 2 of article 222 (illegal handling of firearms), part 2 of article 167 of the RF Criminal Code (deliberate damage of other’s property).

At present moment, an investigating operational group is working at the scene, a number of operations are underway to establish the circumstances of the crime and persons, who committed it.

The version the investigators are considering as a priority is Tsechoyev’s official activity.

From the moment the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was created, its investigators were repeatedly threatened because of their principled position in investigating criminal cases and those threats are growing more frequent to be implemented. In spite of the danger our investigators are exposed to in their daily work, they continue to honestly and professionally discharge their duties, to fight crimes. The Investigative Committee will make every effort to solve this crime as quickly as possible, to establish and prosecute the persons involved in its organization and commission.
