Direct telephone communication took place between Chairman of the Investigative Committee and citizens

Citizens from Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Krasnodar Territory and Astrakhan Region called on 21 November the Chairman of the Russian Federation Investigative Committee on the telephone numbers 8-800-333-02-95 and 8-495-640-20-46.

Most of the called complained about improper investigation of criminal cases under proceedings in investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee and expressed their disagreement with procedural decisions in criminal cases and other matters. This way, a man called from the republic of Bashkortostan and complained about refusal to start criminal investigation against an officer of Neftekumsky district Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition, a representative of a public movement addressed Mr. Bastrykin with a request to check death of 28 newborns in a maternity hospital in Pyatigorsk caused by doctors and medical staff. According to the appellant, Pyatigorsk Investigations Department of Stavropol Territory Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee launched criminal proceedings over just several facts, but over others they refused to initiate criminal cases. Over this fact Alexander Bastykin ordered a check of fullness, objectiveness and legality of decisions made by the law enforcement bodies.

Considering other matters Mr. Bastrykin gave explicit instructions to the heads of a number of territorial investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee. Their implementation is under control of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
