On 30 December 2013, about 03:50 AM, a 25-year-old man from the village of Abram-Tyube at a cart road in 3 km from the village of Kayasuly in Neftekumsky district shot presumably from Kalashnikov submachine gun at 4 officers of the center E of the North Caucasus Federal District Main Office of the Russian Ministry of Interior while they were carrying out a special operation. After that the man threw at them an unidentified explosive device, causing two of them contusion by the explosive wave. The attacker was killed by the reprisal fire.

The investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee in Stavropol Territory have launched a criminal investigation into signs of crimes under article 317 of the RF Penal Code (attempt on the lives of law enforcement agents), part 1 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms) and part 1 of article 223 (illegal manufacture of weapons).

At present investigating and other procedural operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
