Investigative Committee establishes a division to control investigating crimes committed by minors and against them

The Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has analyzed the practice of investigating crimes committed by minors and against minors. At present employees of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee have under their control 2,837 criminal cases over crimes committed both by minors and against them and 220 procedural checks of the messages about such crimes.

Taking into consideration increased social importance of such crimes and with the purpose of their efficient investigation the senior officials of the Investigative Committee have decided to establish in the Directorate of procedural control over investigation of especially important cases in federal districts the office to control investigating crimes committed by minors and against them.

Single-office control over investigating such cases will allow efficient analyzing practice of their investigation, generalizing the positive experience, developing the most efficient methods of inquiry and preventive measures. Ensuring a single approach in investigating will allow maximum protection of rights of minors during the legal process. In addition, the said division will employ specialists in criminal cases of the said category, whose experience will help to coordinate actions of investigators in difficult situations during investigations.
