In Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area criminal investigation launched over violation of safety standards for traffic and use of Mi-8T helicopter by employee of OAO Komiaviatrans

The investigating bodies of the Urals transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in violation of safety standards for traffic and use of a Mi-8T helicopter by an employee of OAO Komiaviatrans as containing signs of the crime under part1 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators on 3 February 2014, about 12 PM, local time, the employee of OAO Komiaviatrans was flying a Mi-8T helicopter of OOO Dobrolyot airlines and while landing on a helipad located 12 km from the Bovanenkovo airport, Yamalsky district, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area lost contact navigation, which caused the helicopter to touch the ground and capsize. The helicopter was damaged and OOO Dobrolyot airlines suffered damage of over 1 million rubles.

At present investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the incident, forensic medical, technical, chemical expert examinations of the samples of fuel and motor oil of turbojet engines have been assigned. Investigation is ongoing.
