At night on 20 April 2014, two offices in the prosecutor’s office in Kalinin District, Chelyabinsk Region were set on fire through broken windows. The Chelyabinsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee started a criminal investigation under part 2 of article 167 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate damage of property), part 2 of article 214 (vandalism).

As a result of investigating and search operations, investigators and operatives of regional offices of the Federal Security Service and Russian Interior Ministry have detained two residents of the city of Chelyabinsk suspected of the crime.

They are now under arrest. One of them has been remanded in custody by court at the motion of the investigators. Restraint for the second suspect as well as pressing charges against both of them is under discussion. Investigating operations are underway to collect and consolidate the evidence. Investigation is ongoing.
