In Crimea high-ranking Ukrainian police officer detained on suspicions of felony

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Crimea have opened a criminal case against acting deputy head – chief of staff of the Feodosia City Department of the Main Office of the Ukraine’s Interior Ministry in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Major Sergey Volodin. He is suspected of a crime under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (exceeding official powers committed by an official using force).

According to investigators, on 1 May 2014, from 10 to 11 PM, the suspect bet up a resident of Feodosia, who had been delivered in the Feodosia City Department of the Main Office of the Ukraine’s Interior Ministry for an administrative offence. The victim sustained bodily harm.

In the evening of 10 May 2014, Volodin was detained. At present investigating operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
