In Saratov Region pre-investigating check launched in light plane crash killing pilot

The investigating bodies of the Southern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out a pre-investigating check in the crash of two-seat plane SP-30 near the village of Krivoy Yar, Rovnoye District, Saratov Region, killing a 59-year-old pilot.

According to investigators, on 20 June 2014, the SP-30 piloted by the 59-year-old resident of Saratov was spraying the fields of OOO Krivoy Yar in Rovnoye District, Saratov Region. Around 5 PM, the plane went down at the field 10 km away from the village of Krivoy Yar. The pilot was killed in the accident and the plane had multiple mechanical damages. At the moment of crash there was only a pilot, who was the owner of the plane, aboard the plane. According to preliminary information during the operation the plane caught on a power line, burst into flames and crashed.

At present the crash scene and the area around it are being examined. Check is underway to find out all the circumstances of the crash. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
