Criminal investigation against Yekaterinburg City Duma deputy and his two accomplices suspected of involvement in murder of pensioner ongoing in Sverdlovsk Region

Sverdlovsk Region investigating bodies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continue to investigate the criminal case based on the report, which was submitted to the police at the end of May 2014 by a resident of the city of Yekaterinburg and which stated that the informer’s neighbor born in 1933 and living in an apartment at the Krestinsky Street, had gone missing. The investigation was launched under Part 1 of Article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder).

Earlier it was reported that as a result of urgent investigative actions and search operations conducted by the Investigative Committee and the Sverdlovsk Region Criminal Investigations Directorate of the MOI of Russia three suspects had been detained on July 20, 2014.

There was 48-year-old Yekaterinburg City Duma Deputy Oleg Kinyov residing in Novouralsk while being Chairman of the Standing Committee on Social Protection and Health of the Yekaterinburg City Duma among them. Investigators believe that he was the organizer of the murder of the elderly woman.

In addition, two residents of Novouralsk - 27-year-old security expert of a commercial organization Andrey Gusev (alleged accomplice in murder) and his age mate officially unemployed Alexey Khudonogov (alleged murderer) were also detained as suspects in this crime.

All three were questioned as suspects. The detainees confessed their roles in the murder. Moreover, in the course of investigative actions at the crime scene, the alleged "killer" Alexey Khudonogov revealed where they had buried the murdered pensioner. Her dismembered body was found on the evening of July 20, 2014 in a swampy area about 65 kilometers from Yekaterinburg near the town of Novouralsk.

It should be noted that investigators of the Investigative Committee’s regional branch, experts of the Investigations Directorate and police officers had conducted meticulous work to consolidate the evidence linking these suspects to the murder, which gave a basis for the procedural decision about their detention.

Furthermore, evidence collecting is ongoing. Investigators of the Investigative Committee and criminal investigation officers of the regional police directorate had earlier conducted a series of searches at residences of the suspects. In addition, today, investigation group members searched the office of the detained deputy Oleg Kinyov, as well as the office of the head of the city of Yekaterinburg.

It should be noted that the office of the head of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman was searched to verify the information whether the missing 81-year-old pensioner had visited the head of the city administration in his office, as well as to clarify a number of other circumstances relevant to the investigation of the criminal case.

Currently, members of the Investigative Committee and police continue to carry out all possible investigative actions and search operations aimed at establishing the circumstances of the murder. Witnesses’ interrogations are underway; a number of necessary expert examinations have been scheduled.

It should also be noted that investigators are checking available information about the possible presence of other accomplices in the brutal murder of the pensioner, about the motive of the crime, and about possible involvement of suspects in other crimes.

At the request of the Investigative Committee the court has already decided to detain the three suspects. It is planned to charge the detainees in the near future. The media and the public will necessarily be informed on the progress in the investigation.
