In Orenburg Region investigation launched in fire killing 3 children

In the morning on 3 August 2014, a fire started in one of the homes on Vodopyanov street in the village of Krasnokholm in the Orenburg Region. While extinguishing the fire, the firefighters found a burned body of a 4-month-old boy and his two brothers aged 5 and 7 years. The boys’ mother, her friend and her small daughter were saved. They were taken to hospital in grave condition with multiple burns. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Orenburg Region launched a criminal investigation into signs of a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide of two or more people).

According to investigators, the house was inhabited by a family of six with 3 small children. At the moment of the fire there was the 27-year-old owner of the house, her friend and the friend’s daughter. Father and grandfather were at work.

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The investigators are questioning eye-witnesses, looking into the causes of the fire, have fixed forensic medical and fire examinations. The investigation is ongoing.
