In Chelyabinsk Region former first deputy Governor to stand trial for organizing libeling chairman of regional court

The Ural Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has completed investigating a criminal case against Oleg Grachev charged with a crime under part 3 of article 33, part 5 of article 128 of the RF Penal Code (organization of libeling through media).

According to investigators, in December 2012, Grachev serving as first deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region organized spread of libel in media regarding activity of Fyodor Vyatkin, chairman of Chelyabinsk Regional Court. Acting at the instructions of Grachev, the perpetrator told a reporter of the TV show “Man and Law” false information defaming and discrediting Vyatkin as chairman of court. They alleged that leaders of Chelyabinsk criminal group “kalinin family” recruited and involved in their crimes Vyatkin, with whom in 1998 they executed inadequate exchange of property. The show aired on 8 December 2012.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore the case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

Proceedings against the perpetrator have been finished due to active remorse.
