In Kirov Region children’s center teacher assistant to stand trial for reckless homicide

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Kirov Region have finished investigating a criminal case against Anna Sivkova charged with a crime under part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide due to improper discharge of professional duty).

According to investigators, on 17 September 2013, an 18-month-old inmate of the children’s center Dzhiga-Dryga started vomiting. Despite the obvious indications that the child had health problems Sivkova did not notice them, undressed the child and put him in bed. Later a teacher found the child giving no signs of life. She called an ambulance which took the child to Kirov Region children’s clinic, where the child then died. According to the experts’ conclusion the child died of a mechanical asphyxia caused by vomit.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to be tried on the merits.
