Criminal proceedings launched in Moscow against deputy head of office for supervising implementation of federal legislation in transport and customs area of Moscow Inter-Regional Transport Prosecutor’s Office

Vice-Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case against deputy head of office for supervising implementation of federal legislation in transport and customs area – head of department for supervising implementation of laws of Moscow Inter-Regional Transport Prosecutor’s Office Denis Yevdokimov and his acquaintance Ozarzhitsky. Depending on the role of each, they are suspected of crimes under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (taking a bribe) and part 4 of article 291.1 (intermediary in bribery).

According to investigators, Yevdokimov in January-February 2013 carried out a check based on the appeal from a citizen on the sham utilization of used sleepers and their factual selling by two commercial companies. During the check he decided to take advantage of the situation and involved in his crime an acquaintance of his named Ozarzhitsky, who agreed to be an intermediary in the bribery for a fee. Then, Ozarzhitsky, representing himself as Yevdakimov’s authorized delegate, demanded from a representatives of the companies 5 million rubles for stopping the check. Yevdokimov got a bribe of 4 million 250 thousand rubles.

Investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime and restraining measure is being discussed. Investigation is ongoing.
