Russian Investigative Committee and National Police Directorate of Norway sign cooperation agreement


Delegation of the Russia’s Investigative Committee headed by Chairman Alexander Bastrykin has visited the Kingdom of Norway. An interagency Agreement on cooperation between the Russian Investigative Committee and National Police Directorate of Norway was signed during the visit. From Norway the Agreement was signed by the National Police Commissioner Odd Humlegård. During the meeting Alexander Bastrykin and Odd Humlegård had a constructive dialogue as for the current issues and prospects of bilateral cooperation, concerning in particular execution of requests on legal assistance. The meeting was held in friendly and understanding atmosphere and became a new step in developing international cooperation of the Russian Investigative Committee with law enforcement authorities in overseas countries. After signing the Agreement heads of the agencies together with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Norway Vyacheslav Pavlovsky laid a wreath at Vestre Gravlund cemetery to the Memorial to Soviet soldiers killed in World War II.

Continuing the visit personnel of Main Forensic Office saw the work of expert criminologists and international cooperation department of the National Criminal Investigation Service Kripos. Norwegian colleagues represented presentations, illustrating Norwegian experience in dactylographic and DNA examinations, discussed modern methods and technologies, equipment and international data bases, used in these areas. Norwegian experts presented a report on investigation of terrorist attacks committed in 2011 by Anders Breivik in Oslo and on the island of Utøya. They showed Russian specialists the equipment and types of expert examinations used in Kripos laboratories. The visit promoted consolidation of mutual interest in the area of sharing experience and best practices between expert criminologists and bilateral cooperation between the agencies.
