Forensic investigators of Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sent to Kalmykia on instructions of Committee Chairman

On 25 March 2013, the verdict of the jury acquitted a resident of Kalmykia charged with sexual abuse of his stepson. It should be noted that considerable evidence was collected and the prosecution fully supported the investigation’s position.

The same day the bodies of the man’s 2-year-old daughter and 5-year-old stepson were found in the village of Troitskoye, Tselinny district of the Republic of Kalmykia. Criminal investigation has been launched into the fact over signs of a crime under paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder of two small children).

Investigators are checking the children’s mother, grandmother and the man released on the acquittal on being involved in the crime. All necessary forensic expert examinations are assigned and search and investigating operations are underway to find other persons involved in the crime.

On the instructions of the Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee the deputy head of North Caucasian Federal District Main Investigations Directorate and head of forensic department of the same directorate arrived in the republic to help in organizing the investigation.

Along with finding the circumstances of the children’s murder all possible legal measures will be taken to appeal against the acquittal of the man charged with sexual abuse of children.
