Meeting with representatives of Russian Chamber of Accounts took place today at Investigative Committee

An interagency meeting of the Russia’s Investigative Committee and Chamber of Accounts has taken place today at the Investigative Committee. The meeting presided by Mr. Alexander Bastrykin and Mr. Sergey Stepashin, Head of Chamber of Accounts, was attended by heads of investigating bodies and investigators of the Investigative Committee, auditors and staff of the Russian Chamber of Accounts.

Participants of the meeting noted that in 2012 measures were taken to improve interaction of the two agencies in the area of fighting against illegal use of state and municipal property, budget funds and state non-budget funds and against acts of corruption.

During the meeting the parties discussed measures aimed at improving interaction in the area of fighting against illegal use of state and municipal property, budget funds and state non-budget funds and against acts of corruption. It was particularly noted that the Investigative Committee organized prompt review of materials of control events of the Chamber of Accounts and timely notifying about the results of this work.

The participants of the meeting stressed that the current system of relationships between the Investigative Committee and the Chamber of Accounts in the area of fighting against illegal use of state and municipal property, budget funds and state non-budget funds and against acts of corruption in general meets its tasks.

However, additional work is required in joint targeted professional training of personnel of the Investigative Committee and the Chamber of Accounts in prevention, revealing and suppression of crimes in finance and budget sphere.

Taking the above-stated into consideration, with the purpose to improve cooperation in the area of fighting against illegal use of state and municipal property, budget funds and state non-budget funds and against acts of corruption, the participants of the meeting decided to take necessary measures for quicker pre-investigating checks organized in accordance with the materials of the Chamber of Accounts. At the same time, auditors of the Chamber of Account were ordered to provide efficient preparedness of appeals, materials attached to them, sent to the Investigative Committee and immediate review of written requests of the bodies of the Investigative Committee connected with the checks conducted on appeals from the Chamber of Accounts and investigation of criminal cases. Besides, the Investigative Committee enhanced procedural control over review of materials of the Chamber of Accounts.
