Yan Lebedev extradited to Russian Federation to be checked on involvement in killing famous boxer in Omsk

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Omsk Region continue investigating a criminal case over the murder of three-time champion of Siberia, winner of International Tournament Golden Glove Ivan Klimov, as a crime under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder).

It has been found that on 23 November 2013, around 12 PM, in the city of Omsk near a house in Dianov Street an unidentified man stabbed Klimov two times killing the 24-year-old boxer at the scene. The killer then fled the scene.

The case is being actively investigated by an investigative team composed of 7 most experienced investigators of the local Investigative Committee, as well as by considerable forces of the Omsk Region Office of the Ministry of the Interior.

The investigators examined the crime scene and surrounding area and the victim’s flat using forensics equipment. They confiscated objects vital for the investigation. By now they questioned over 400 witnesses, assigned over 60 different analyses, including forensic medical, biological, chemical, traceologica, ballistic, dactylographic, computer technical and others. At present there are results of 56 analyses, the rest are being run.

To confirm one of the prioritized versions, on 12 December 2013, in the city of Bishkek Kirgizian police detained Yan Lebedev, who had been wanted as a suspect. The victim had a conflict with Lebedev in March 2013 near the Angar club in the city of Omsk.

The Kirgizia’s competent bodies have granted the request to extradite Lebedev to be prosecuted under the investigation opened under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 111 of the RF Penal Code (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm).

Lebedev is accused of shooting at and wounding Ivan Klimov on 3 March 2013 near the Angar club in the city of Omsk.

By now Lebedev has been brought to the city of Moscow and later will be transported to Omsk for investigative operations to check him on involvement in murder of Ivan Klimov. The investigation is ongoing.
