In Sverdlovsk Region preliminary check launched in death of Japanese citizen aboard jet

A 65-year-old citizen of Japan died on 12 September 2014 aboard a Boeing-747. The investigating bodies of the Ural Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a pre-investigating check into the incident.

According to preliminary reports, at 12:36 AM, local time, the Boeing-747 of Lufthansa airlines flying from Frankfort on the Main to Osaka made an emergency landing at Koltsovo airport because one of the passengers felt not well. Immediately after the landing, medical personnel of the Koltsovo airport medical station and paramedics of the Yekaterinburg emergency aid service got aboard the plane to perform a set of resuscitation activities. However, a senior paramedic of the brigade of Yekaterinburg emergency aid service called the man dead at 01:35 AM, local time. On 12 September 2014, at 03:25 AM, local time, the Boeing-747 with the man’s body aboard took off for its destination.

At present check is underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident, investigators are questioning the airport staff and medical personnel. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
