The Belgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation into a crime under part 1 of article 108 of the RF Penal Code (murder committed with excess of limits of necessary defense).

The Investigative Committee is going to carefully investigate all the circumstances of the crime.

According to investigators, on 21 September 2014, two residents of the town of Belgorod arrived to visit a 51-year-old man, an owner of an agricultural production cooperative, and demanded to give them the seal of the cooperative. The farmer refused and they started to beat him. The man took the gun he had in the house and warned the attackers that he was going to use it if they did not leave his house. One of the attackers holding a knife moved in the direction of the farmer and the latter shot several times. The two attackers died at the scene of gunshot wounds. The wounded farmer was hospitalized.

It should be noted that final legal evaluation will be done after the investigators finish all necessary investigative operations. They have fixed a forensic medical, biological, dactylographic, ballistic and medical criminological expert examinations. They are questioning the witnesses and carrying out an additional investigation of the crime scene. The attackers have been identified. One of them had been convicted of a crime under part 4 of article 111 of the RF Penal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
