In Sakha Republic (Yakutia) reinvestigating check launched in Mi-8 incident

On 14 October 2014, at around 8 PM local time, a Mi-8 helicopter of ALROSA airlines travelling from a village 290 km away from the town of Tiksi to the village of Polyarny hit by the fan a container standing on the ground and capsized. The investigating bodies of East Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a pre-investigating check into the incident.

According to preliminary reports, there were 11 passengers and 3 crew members aboard the helicopter. Nobody was hurt. The Rotor, tail and fuselage of the helicopter were damaged. Pecuniary damage is being calculated.

At present investigators are taking measures to find out all the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
