Another member of gang convicted Altai Republic

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Altai sufficient to convict 28-year-old resident of the Altai Republic Alexey Matin. He was found guilty of crimes under part 2 of article 209, paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 158, paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 161, paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 158, paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 162, paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 158, paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 162, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code (banditry, theft, robbery, illegal transmission, storage, carrying of firearms, committed by an organized group).

The court and investigators have found that in November 2013, the accused joined an armed group organized by a 29-year-old man to attack and rob people. There were 5 members in the gang, including a minor. Matin, while being a gang member, committed a series of serious crimes in Chemal District, Republic of Altai – thefts and robberies. The accused used firearms and pump action pistols for their crimes.

The court has sentenced the man to 10 years to be served in a special-security penal colony.
