Head of Physical Resources Directorate of Chelyabinsk region Government Ernest Karimov accused of taking bribes

The Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District accused the Head of the Physical Resources Directorate of the Chelyabinsk region Government Ernest Karimov of committing an offense under Paragraph "c" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (bribery).

According to investigators, during the period from January to April 2012 Ernest Karimov received a bribe in the amount of 450 thousand rubles from the Minister of Health of the Chelyabinsk region Vitaly Teslenko. In return, he promised to assist in the smooth participation and winning the auction for the placing of state orders for the purchase of medical equipment for the needs of medical institutions of the Chelyabinsk region for organizations controlled by Teslenko and deputy chief physician of “Kisegach” Health Resort Ivan Sorokun. These auctions were conducted within the framework of the regional program for the modernization of health care of the Chelyabinsk region for 2011-2012.

At the request of investigators, Karimov was remanded in custody.

At present, a set of investigation and search operations is being conducted to establish all the circumstances of the crime. Operational support in a criminal case is being provided by the FSB Directorate for Chelyabinsk region.
