Russian Investigative Committee and Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China sign cooperation agreement

On 26 April 2013, Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Mr. Alexander Bastrykin and Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Guo Shengkun during a visit of the Chinese delegation in the Russian Federation signed an interagency Cooperation Agreement.

The Agreement provides for the cooperation of the parties in investigating transnational crimes including acts of terrorist, corruption and economic crimes and those in the area of high tech and other categories posing heightened danger to the public.

During the working meeting Mr. Bastrykin noted that Russian-Chinese relationships were quickly developing, had firm legal bases, ramified organizational structure and active connections on all levels. “Cooperation in the area of security and fighting against the crime is of key importance for the relationships between Russia and China. Provision of human and civil rights and freedoms, protection of state interests, battle against the crime on all levels are the customary and first-priority task of the law enforcement system in the Russian Federation. I am sure that our Chinese counterparts have the same tasks”, - said the Chairman of the Investigative Committee.

During the meeting Mr. Bastrykin and Mr. Shengkun exchanged their opinions on the implementation of the signed agreement and further improvement of bilateral cooperation.
