Experienced investigators of Central Office of Investigative Committee sent to Saint-Petersburg to help investigate murder of family of employee of Federal Drug Control Service

Saint-Petersburg investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continued investigative a criminal case launched into a crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder of two people).

During investigating and search operations a suspect of the murder has been found and arrested. It is 20-year-old Ilya Komarov, a 4th year cadet of military institute of internal troops of the Russian Federation and living in the same building as the victims.

Investigators checked testimonies on site in presence of the suspect, during which he testified that on 11 May 2013, at about 11 PM he went up to the flat of his neighbors living one floor upper, allegedly to see what bathroom equipment they had. Sometime later Komarov started quarrelling with the woman (born in 1975) owning the flat, lost his temper and stabbed her, her 12-year-old son and their dog many times. The victims died on the spot. After that the perpetrator stole the gold jewelries and fled.

In the near future the investigator is going to file a petition asking the court to place the suspect into custody as a pretrial restraining measure. The charges are under discussion.

On the order of the leadership of the Russia’s Investigative Committee, experienced investigators of the Central Office have been sent to Saint-Petersburg.

Investigating and search operations are under way to find all the circumstances of the crime.
